Fairy Bricks, Goldman Sachs and I LUG NY at Department of Pediatrics at Kravis Children’s Hospital at Mount Sinai

Lives were brightened through LEGO on Tuesday, July 26th.

Volunteers from Goldman Sachs Community Teamworks and I LUG NY members Bill Murphy and Brian Wygand were honorary Fairy Bricks fairies for the day. We all helped young patients and their siblings build LEGO sets that were donated to the Department of Pediatrics at Kravis Children’s Hospital at Mt. Sinai in Manhattan. LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTER WESTCHESTER AFOL NIGHT (2015/08/06)

Nearly every month LLDC (www.LegoLandDiscoveryCenter.com) has an AFOL night (Adult Fans Of LEGO, 18+) who reminisce about and/or actively enjoy LEGO. And ILUGNY, a LEGO User Group in the tri-state area, has members who actively enjoy LEGO and who attend these events to meet like-talented adults to share our passion and to participate in the activities. NOTE: Adults NOT bringing child to LLDC are only allowed to go during an Adult Night, which is good because that’s when it’s an adult-friendly atmosphere!

This event was August’s music-themed event… “Rock Star” Adult Night.

Block Party Christmas Tree Charity Event

The b-Cause Foundation Block Party (www.CTBlockParty.comwww.facebook.com/CTBlockParty), a neighbor helping neighbor initiative, held a Christmas Tree decorating event for charity on Dec 14th, 2014 at Post154 restaurant in Westport, CT (Yes, it was a Post Office).

The event was sponsored by Simon Pearce, who has a store in Westport.  As another of our charity events, LEGO9V and I (BG3D) decorated a Christmas tree for charity using ornaments built by many more ILUGNY members and family at a previous ILUGNY Christmas Party.

I LUG NY Donation of LEGO to Cohen Children’s Medical Center

I LUG NY continued to raise funds to help bring smiles to children’s faces who are being cared for at local children’s hospitals. Every penny raised is used to purchase LEGO to donate to two local children’s hospitals. We partnered with Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY in the past and have done so once again in 2014. I LUG NY member Brian Wygand delivered a donation of LEGO to Cohen Children’s Medical Center on December 14, almost exactly a year to the date of our previous holiday donation. https://www.ilugny.org/2013/12/15/donation-1-of-2-dropped-off-at-cohen-childrens-medical-center-today/

BrickFair NJ 2014 Wrap-Up (Nov 1st & 2nd)

BrickFair NJ 2014 took place for the first time near NYC in Somerset, NJ at the Garden State Convention Center.  Although it’s a relatively smaller LEGO fan-built event, it still had a great turnout and was a great size for fun exhibitor camaraderie and a great start for our LUG BrickFair newbies (Bert, BG3D, Skaare42) and brand-new LUG members (Marco & John).

ILUGNY, a tri-state LEGO User Group club, turned out with a large table layout of a seamlessly integrated display with 2 trains and 2 monorails.

5 Years Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away-I LUG NY Began to Form

OK, so the Palisades is not a galaxy far, far away but the New York LEGO scene does seem like a different galaxy however. In 2009, there wasn’t a New York Adult Fan of LEGO group active online. Five years ago there was one LEGO Store in New York located in West Nyack. It was at this LEGO Store at the Palisades Center Mall where a change began to take hold for the New York AFoL community. Continue reading 5 Years Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away-I LUG NY Began to Form
