b-Cause Block Party Recap

This past Saturday and Sunday at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center was a b-cause CT Block Party event. There was a good crowd both days and people seemed to really enjoy the experience. This was a special event held in the main building of the museum in addition to the ongoing “Billion Bricks” exhibit.

The b-Cause Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate children to recognize neighbors in need in the local community. Block Party events serve as fundraisers.

Warner Bros. provided The LEGO® Movie posters and activity books, which were given out to attendees.DSC01668

Kids could free-build in several building areas. The downhill derby ramp (used at the Bendel Speedway event the previous weekend) made a return appearance as well.

There were a number of items for sale, including both new and old sets. All sales directly benefitted the foundation.

People sifted through huge bins of mixed LEGO to fill “Cups of Love” and got to keep whatever they found. These cups also benefitted the foundation.

Kids were able to build and take home a free micro lighthouse model. DSC01692

Bill (aka “Murphquake”) got so good at building lighthouse, he could do it blindfolded!DSC01696

An interactive mosaic build allowed kids to recreate an image in LEGO form. This one was a picture of an otter.

Finally, there was a runway where kids could dress-up and have their own fashion show, as well as an arts-and-crafts area.

Thanks to all I LUG NY members who came out, as well as the b-Cause Foundation members, the SM&NC staff, and everyone who attended the Block Party. The combined effort of everyone made this event possible.

“A Billion Bricks” has one more special event- be sure to sign up before it sells out! Click the link below for details.
