December meeting / Christmas Party
– Brian and Rick were at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center this weekend and we discussed the possibility of a December meeting / Christmas Party.
What does everyone think of Saturday the 3rd of December?
We also discussed doing a swap of LEGO (of course) sets.

I met a new member yesterday named Bert from Connecticut who learned about us at the Queens store via the LUG Showcase. He also paid the $40 for 2012. I think that those of us who have paid should have that money go towards the 2012 calendar year and they should all be paid up by the December meeting for the next year.
If we are indeed having a party we need to get together to plan it. You know the area and could probably suggest a place to get food from. Email me rather than over the public forum to discuss the other details.

Any ideas for a kit for the parts draft?
I suggest one of the new 2012 sets. I know that if we pick a Dino set that the Dinosaur would probably be the 1st part picked but what about a 2012 set? Maybe one of the newer City sets? Camper or Garbage Truck?

Wow Bill!?!? That is a pricey set to draft but I agree there are a ton of great new parts in this set, some in a very sizable quantity.
What time are we going to start the meeting/party? I’m ok with getting there at 12/1 PM and staying until they kick us out of the museum or starting later to accommodate the guys who can’t be there that early.
There are several of us who have commented that they are in. I’d like to spend the better part of a day there to hang out with the LUG and look at the display again. A parts draft would be awesome but can everyone attending drop the $ down on an $80 set? The LEGO Stores are selling the Winter Toy Shop for 25% off tomorrow, wonder if we can get enough of these to draft?
Mike’s idea regarding the Secret Santa is cool too and not as expensive.
I guess it all depends on how many want to do a draft. If there is only a few (3 or 4) then a small set barely makes sense. I think we need feedback from all members on the following…
1. – Coming to event Yes or No
2. – If coming… parts draft or secret santa?
3. – If parts draft what is ideal budget (kit price)?
4. – If secret santa then we need guidelines.
Maybe an e-mail would be best for this.

I will send an email out to the members tomorrow as soon as I know the time. I will also let the guys know that you have 5 sets available for the draft and 1st come 1st served on the 5 sets Otherwise they have to bring their own.

I’d say get them. Have you spoken to Brian, he was to verify how many additional were needed. Even with the 30 off + tax at LEGO price was still $61.00.
Worst case, they could always be returned!

I am hoping to finally make my first meeting with everyone. I had surgery on my gums last week, so if I can finally wean myself off the meds I’ll be able to drive up (my “driver” is away at school and doesn’t want to come home for the weekend).
