  1. Hey Marwan,
I think you’re best bet is to start by coming to one of our meetings. I think the next one is in the Massapequa Park Public Library at 11am on May 19th. We try and move the meetings around a bit, so if you have trouble getting to this one, we’ll probably have one closer at some point.

  2. Is there any Lego fans in the Catskill NY area? I had started playing Legos with my 5 year old son, and now I have built some cool stuff and display them in my 40 gal. fish tank. (No Fish of course!) If there are any clubs in this area I would like to join or start a new one. Please let me know if you have heard of any. Thank you!

    1. Kenneth,
As presently constituted, I LUG NY members live as far North as the Palisades, throughout NYC, Long Island, and even in parts of Connecticut. You are welcome to join us for meetings/events whenever your schedule permits. Because of how far we are spread geographically, meetings are never conveniently located for the entire membership but we vary meeting locations so the burden of commuting falls on all of us throughout the year.

  3. I have been building kits up to now but would like to begin designing and building some of my own creations. I live in SC and there are no Lego stores near us. How do I buy lego bricks and parts in bulk for projects? Is there a source for these? Any suggestions you ca make would be appreciated.

  4. Paul,
LEGO Pick a Brick walls are great but you said you don’t live near a LEGO Store so you can always use the LEGO online Pick a Brick at LEGO.com.
Another great source for parts is bricklink.com.
Between these two sites you should be able to find any part you are looking for.

  5. Hi Guys! At NYCC you mentioned a display at Stamford? What are the details? I was getting ready to post my photos (amateurish as they are) and wanted to include info on your next event.

    1. Chuck,
Our next show will be here:
      Stamford Museum & Nature Center
      39 Scofieldtown Road
      Stamford, CT 06903

We are setting the display up this week and it opens to the public on November 17, 2012 and runs through January 27, 2013

  6. hello!
was wondering if anyone in your group would be interested in doing a commissioned sculpture of a small, all-white, dog?
    thanks.

  7. My family saw the show at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center and we are lego nuts. We would like more info about your organization and what you do and how one could get involved. Loved the show and we were amazed at how many of the sets we own and have built ourselves – although there were other fabulous free builds as well.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and we look forward to hearing from you,

    Sincerely,
    Wendy

    1. Wendy (fellow LEGO nut),
I LUG NY is made up of Adult Fans of LEGO 18 years of age and older. If one wants to become involved with the club all one would need do is attend a meeting. Check our calendar for info on where the next meeting is.
We usually meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month but at different locations which is why the events page is used to let members know where we are meeting.

    1. Hi Greg,

Yes, unfortunately the hanging portion of the direction was not added.

To make it easy, I’ll just describe it and I’m sure you will understand it.

You will need about a 3″ section of thread (any color will do) Then proceed to take all four (4) black cheese slopes off the top of the engine (in back).

The thread simply gets locked into place once you snap the slopes back in place.

This works well because the center point of the train and tender is almost exactly at that point as well.

      Thanks You

It is a dream of mine to be affiliated with Lego in anyway and to influence the creativity of others and myself in rebuilding no only my childhood but to improve the imagination of all! 9. As Trains theme coordinator for BrickFair NE, I just wanted to reach out to the group to see if your club would be attending BrickFair NE in Manchester, NH this coming May, and if you were interested in displaying a club train layout. We’re starting to allocate space for large displays, and I wanted to make sure you were included if interested. If you are interested, please let me know how much space you’ll need, and how many tables you think you might need for the space.

If you don’t attend as a club, I hope to see some of you at the event as individuals!

  10. Hello, I’ve been a Lego enthusiast for 40 years now. My recent focus has been mosaics and I regularly offer a customized mosaic of a child at both my kids’ schools for their fundraising auctions that turn out to be the most bid on items. Here is the first mosaic I made a while ago (I still have it): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=112759

I’d like to take the mosaics to the next step, introducing more colors, more complex styles, and even get into sculpture. I’ve also contemplated making a side business related to Lego that I would like to explore.

I would be interested in going to the next I LUG NY meeting and chat with like-minded Lego lovers! Please let me know when and where the next meeting is and I hope to be there.

    Thanks,

    Elam Birnbaum

    1. Elam,
